Subject to prior agreement we are happy to welcome friendly, house-trained adult dogs and their owners to Pengelly Farmhouse B&B. Sorry no dogs that are likely to be at all aggressive to people, other dogs or farm animals. We have our own friendly Hungarian Viszla, Tara, who lives with us in the house. The guest bedrooms are upstairs on the first floor which is all carpeted so perhaps not ideal for all dogs. You are welcome to exercise your dog in the paddock and garden but guests will need to keep their dogs under control at all times. Please note that the garden and paddock are NOT dog proofed and that we usually have cattle, horses and sheep in the surrounding fields.
Any bagged dog waste should be put in the bin. Please clear up after your dog if they make a mess on the lawn or drive. We are happy to provide dog bags on request.
As dog owners we know that even well trained dogs can have accidents in strange places – if this happens there will be a stain remover and kitchen roll in your wardrobe. We would be grateful if you would dry off dogs and wipe off muddy paws before bringing them into the house – please ask if you need a dog towel, there is also hot and cold running water in the yard for the sandiest / muddiest dogs.
Even though we let guests know that we have dogs please be aware that not everyone likes dogs. So we ask that you don’t let your dog approach any other guests unless they encourage it.
We are not able to allow dogs in the dining room at breakfast if we have other guests in. If you are the only guests staying then we are happy to waive this rule.
Please do not allow your dog onto the bed or other furniture in the guest bedrooms or public rooms.
Dogs are not to be left alone in the guest bedrooms when you go out, we may be able to offer a dog sitting service – please ask. Even well trained dogs who are happy to be left alone at home may bark constantly, scratch and have accidents when left in a strange place (please refer to our Terms and Conditions). If you are certain that your dog is OK to be left in the bedroom whilst you eat breakfast then that is fine – if you have any doubts then we ask that you put them in your car (except in hot weather of course).
And finally if there us anything that we can do to make you and your dog’s stay more relaxing please let us know.
